President
Arlene Patton has served on Land Trust boards in Arizona and California for more than ten years. Her real estate background, which includes complex land transactions such as long-term ground leases and Transit Oriented Development spans more than 25 years. Her love of hiking and her appreciation of the flora and fauna of the Desert Foothills inspired her to volunteer for the Black Mountain Conservancy. Arlene, and her husband, Lindsay, have lived in Carefree since mid 2003. |

Vice-president/Treasurer
Dave Mills has been an Arizona resident for the last 12 years, in both Carefree and North Scottsdale. Now retired, Dave spent his career in the advertising business in New York and Los Angeles, and came to Arizona at the behest of PetSmart, where he served for three years as VP, Advertising. Dave and his wife Gretchen fell in love with Arizona, and were among the co-founders of BMC in 1998; Dave has served on the BMC board continuously in varying capacities, including a three-year stint as president. Dave also serves on the boards of the Terravita Homeowners' Association, and the Friends of Pinnacle Peak Park. |

Secretary
Lyn Hitchon lives on the southwest side of Black Mountain with her husband, Herbert, and their nine dogs. She loves the Carefree/Cave Creek area and is passionate about zoning and preservation issues. Lyn believes the BMC is a crucial organization, and she was honored when asked to join the board. She currently serves as Secretary and she runs the annual Photo Contest. She also volunteers for the Cave Creek Museum; she is on the board of the Sentinel Rock HOA; and she is a member of Carefree's Planning and Zoning Commission. |

Marry Livingston Bogan and her husband Wayne have lived in west Cave Creek for eight years. In her previous career as a therapist, she volunteered on non-profit boards with the Arizona Play Therapy Association and the Maricopa County Interagency Council. She was the Black Mountain Conservancy’s Office Manager for one year, and then joined the board. Marry now works for the Carefree/Cave Creek Chamber of Commerce. Her interest in Black Mountain stems from a desire to help the community preserve Cave Creek’s unique character, including its open space and rural lifestyle |

Jim Bruce and his artist wife Judy moved to Cave Creek, AZ, in 2001. In addition to the BMC, Jim serves on the Board of Directors of the Sonoran Arts League and the Kiwanis Club of Carefree. Jim is a member of the Planning and Zoning Commission for Cave Creek, and volunteers at the Caring Corps., delivering meals and driving their van. Both Jim and Judy are proponents of conservation and preservation. |

Sue Mueller and her artist husband Dick live in Cave Creek, where they have a north view of Black Mountain. Sue was the Executive Director of BMC for 3 years and then joined the board. Sue is also the coordinator for the Sonoran Arts League and the Cave Creek Film and Arts Festival. She is an Arizona Site Steward, a member of the Arizona Archaeological Society (Desert Foothills Chapter) and a volunteer at the Cave Creek Museum. Sue feels strongly about the need to preserve open space and was part of the Spur Cross Ranch preservation effort. |

Pat O’Brien moved to Arizona from Baltimore in 2002, but he was already a member of the Black Mountain Conservancy in 2001. While in Baltimore, Pat was a manager for Random House, Inc., and he flew C-130s for the Maryland Air National Guard, from which he retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. In addition to his position on the BMC board, Pat serves on the Cave Creek Board of Adjustment, and volunteers for the Kiwanis Club of Carefree. Pat lives in Cave Creek with his wife Andrea Markowitz and their dog Guinness, where they cherish the community’s rural lifestyle and open spaces. |
